Six-Day Round Trip
DAY 1 :
Pick up from hotel by fully air-conditioned mini coach. We drive to our first stop at Kanilia Game Park, which is the village home of the President of The Gambia. We then proceed for lunch at Tendaba Camp, an up-country camp located on the south bank of the River Gambia, where we will be spending our first night.
DAY 2 :
Departing Tendaba Camp following breakfast, after a 30-minute drive we cross the River Gambia from the south to the north of the country and visit the famous stone circle at Wassu village, equipping us with a knowledge of an existence going back to the Stone Age. From there, we head to Georgetown, an island in the River Gambia and the first settlement used as a slave post by the British during their colonisation of The Gambia. We then cross south and continue to Basse, the last main town of The Gambia. We will be spending the night at Fuladu Camp, another up-country location, with all rooms air-conditioned.
DAY 3 :
After breakfast, we cross the border into the east of Senegal, heading to Nkolokoba Game Park, arriving late in the afternoon and staying overnight in Sementi Camp, 20km from the main entrance. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to see a multitude of wildlife.
DAY 4 :
After a very early morning coffee, we will tour Nkolokoba Game Park, where you can expect to see yet more wildlife, including hippos, giraffes, zebras, Giant Eland, the world’s biggest antelopes - possibly even elephants. We then return to camp for our proper breakfast at around 9am. Afterwards, you will enjoy a relaxing boat trip to the Gambie Bolong and a further chance to spot lots of wildlife, including the dwarf crocodile, lots of hippos and a great variety of colourful inter-African migrant bird species. We return to camp for lunch and in the afternoon make our second visit to the game park, before heading back for our overnight stay.
DAY 5 :
Today, we prepare for our return from Sementi Camp to the Gambian border and Georgetown, where we spend our fifth night.
DAY 6 :
Following breakfast, we cross The Gambian River to Kuntawur, where we visit the Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Project. Around five hours later, we will catch our mini coach at Kuntawur, making our final river crossing and returning to your hotel.
